Jaflong

Jaflong is a tourist destination at the Bangladesh-India border where the Piain River flows through a valley ringed by mountains and tea plantations. The river continuously carries stones from the neighboring hills, giving the water a distinctive dark color.

The site is best reached from Sylhet town, where regular buses and taxis are available for the journey. The drive passes through pleasant hill terrain, and the cooler months offer the most comfortable visiting conditions.

Daily, workers wade into the river to collect stones by hand and carry baskets to the shore. This ancient practice offers visitors a rare glimpse of how raw materials have been gathered from this river for centuries.
