Khadim Nagar National Park, National park in Sylhet District, Bangladesh
Khadim Nagar is a national park covering approximately 679 hectares of evergreen forest in northeastern Bangladesh, bordered by tea gardens on multiple sides. The woodland consists of dense vegetation at various elevations with defined pathways for visitors to navigate.
British colonial administration cleared forest areas for tea cultivation, but the Forest Department launched replanting efforts starting in the 1950s. These recovery programs shaped the woodland composition found there today.
The Laleng community, known as Patra, lives near the park boundaries and has maintained connections to the forest and its resources. Visitors can observe how local people interact with these woodlands as part of their daily life.
Two marked trails run through the forest with walking options lasting around 45 minutes or two hours, both starting from the forest department office. Wear sturdy footwear and prepare for damp ground conditions typical of this tropical woodland environment.
The forest contains more than 350 plant species including rare orchids, and provides habitat for endangered primates like the Capped Langur. This biodiversity is remarkable given the park's modest size compared to other protected forests in the region.
