Museum of Rajas', Folk museum in Zindabazar, Sylhet, Bangladesh.
The Museum of Rajas' is housed in a former residence and contains two exhibition halls displaying historical objects, photographs, and documents related to the Raja family of Sylhet. The rooms present a collection that reflects the local heritage and history of the region.
The building was once the residence of Dewan Hason Raja Chowdhury, a notable zamindar and mystic poet who lived from 1854 to 1922. After his lifetime, the property was transformed into a memorial to preserve his legacy and the cultural history of the region.
The first gallery displays folk musical instruments, particularly the Ek Tara, which held significance in Bengali traditions. You can see how these simple instruments were part of everyday cultural life in the region.
The museum is located in Zindabazar and is easily accessible by rickshaw or auto-rickshaw from the main areas. Walking through the local streets provides good orientation and helps you find the site without difficulty.
At its opening in 2006, thousands of people played the Ek Tara simultaneously, creating a rare community experience. This event remains in local memory as a moment when an ancient instrument brought people together.
