Temple de Diane, Neoclassical temple in Villa Borghese Gardens, Rome, Italy.
The Temple of Diana stands as a circular structure with eight Corinthian columns supporting a decorated dome within the extensive Villa Borghese Gardens.
Architect Antonio Asprucci constructed this neoclassical temple in 1789 under the commission of Marcantonio IV Borghese, featuring a life-sized statue of Diana.
The temple's architrave bears the Latin inscription 'NOCTILVCAE SILVARVM POTENTI', honoring Diana as the goddess of nocturnal light and forests.
Visitors can access the temple through Viale della Casina di Raffaello, which connects to multiple walking paths throughout Villa Borghese Gardens.
The original marble statue of Diana, depicting the goddess reaching for an arrow, now resides in the Louvre Museum following its sale to France in 1807.
