Londonviadukten, Railway viaduct in central Stockholm, Sweden
Londonviadukten is a viaduct in Stockholm that connects the eastern end of Stadsgårdsledens and Tegelvikshamnen to Folkungagatan on Södermalm. The structure bridges a major transport corridor and serves today as an important link between different parts of the city.
The viaduct was opened in 1910 and took its name from visitors from London who attended the inauguration ceremony. In the late 1970s, the original structure with workshops underneath was converted into a regular road embankment.
The viaduct forms part of the Saltsjöbanan railway line, connecting Stockholm's center to residential districts and recreational areas along the coast.
The viaduct is reachable via the Saltsjöbanan train, which runs regularly between Slussen station and coastal destinations. Visitors should know that the area has a mixed character of transport hub and surrounding neighborhoods.
Despite its name honoring London officials, the structure transformed from an original viaduct with workshops underneath to a regular road embankment in the late 1970s.
