法性寺

The temple is located between Kamakura and Zushi cities near the Nagoe Pass, featuring multiple halls and stone structures spread across its grounds. The site includes several buildings and ritual stone sculptures arranged throughout a wooded setting.

The temple was founded in 924 by Fujiwara no Tadahira and later became an important religious center for the Fujiwara clan. This connection to the influential family shaped the site's importance and development across centuries.

The temple holds a thousand-armed Kannon statue with three faces and additional faces set into its crown, designated as a National Treasure. Visitors can observe this remarkable sculpture as a centerpiece of religious practice at the site.

The temple requires advance reservations for interior visits and provides a parking area that can accommodate about six vehicles. It is best to plan ahead and arrange access in advance.

According to local tradition, a white monkey appeared at this location to protect Saint Nichiren from officials. This story continues to be shared by visitors and the faithful as part of the site's spiritual history.
