Chichibu Railway Park

Chichibu Railway Park is an outdoor facility near Mitsumineguchi Station displaying vintage trains, locomotives, and railway equipment across multiple exhibition areas. The collection spans different periods of rail history and allows visitors to walk around and inspect the vehicles at their own pace.

The park was founded in 1989 to preserve and display the railway heritage of the Chichibu region. It documents how rail transport shaped the area's growth and development across more than a century.

The railway collection reflects how trains shaped daily life and travel in this region over generations. You can observe how the machines evolved and what role they played in connecting local communities.

The park is accessible on foot with pathways connecting different exhibition areas. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended since you will spend time moving between displays, and paths can become slippery when wet.

Some of the displayed trains date from the earliest days of Japanese railways and reveal how basic the technology was at its start. You can directly compare the oldest locomotives with those from later periods displayed side by side.
