埼玉県山西省友好記念館, Cultural exchange museum in Ogano, Japan
The Saitama-Shanxi Friendship Memorial Museum was a cultural facility showcasing objects from China's Shanxi Province. Its collection featured handcrafted items, traditional musical instruments, agricultural artifacts, and decorative pieces including lacquered vessels and embroidered textiles.
The museum was founded in 1992 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of friendship between Saitama Prefecture and Shanxi Province. It remained open until its closure in March 2018.
The museum building design replicates a Tang Dynasty temple architecture, displaying jade incense burners, red lacquerware vessels, and double-sided embroidery pieces.
The building was located in Ogano and was most easily reached by car, with several national roads leading to the area. Bus connections were also available from nearby train stations.
The former exhibition space was converted into a sports facility in 2020 and now operates as an indoor climbing gym. The building itself retained its original architecture, which was modeled after a Tang Dynasty temple.
