Humanities Center, Tudor Revival academic building in Baltimore, US
The Francis Xavier Knott Humanities Center features steeply pitched rooflines, decorative half-timbering, and multiple gables characteristic of Tudor Revival architecture.
Architect James Renwick Jr completed the structure in 1896 as a residential house for Horatio Garrett, who passed away before living in the completed residence.
The building transformed from a private residence to a Red Cross facility for injured servicemen during World War I before becoming part of Loyola University Maryland.
The Humanities Center contains offices, seminar rooms, and lecture halls equipped with modern educational facilities while maintaining its historical architectural elements.
The structure appeared in the Netflix series House of Cards and underwent numerous renovations, including a substantial expansion of 30,000 square feet in 1992.
