Captain Henry Harrison, who served under Lieutenant Colonel George Washington during the French and Indian War, constructed this residence between 1745 and 1772.
The property contains both a Harrison family cemetery and a separate slave cemetery, reflecting the social structure of colonial Virginia plantations.
The historic property stands on Hunting Quarter Road, south of its junction with Poole Road, and maintains its original architectural elements.
The estate includes a preserved smokehouse and the sites of four additional outbuildings that supported plantation operations during the colonial period.
