Blockhaus de la Platte, Military fortification in Bourg-Saint-Maurice, France

The fortress stands at an elevation of 2,000 meters with four bastions, a guardhouse at the entrance, and multiple firing platforms on three levels.

Built between 1891 and 1894, this fortification belonged to a defense system protecting the Alps following Italian military developments in the region.

The structure represents a significant example of late 19th-century French military architecture, designed by engineer Séré de Rivières.

The fort remains closed to visitors as it functions as a private cheese production facility for Beaufort and local goat cheese varieties.

The former artillery platforms of this military structure have been converted into vegetable gardens at 2,000 meters altitude.
