Little Hart Crag, Mountain summit in Westmorland and Furness, England.
Little Hart Crag is a mountain summit in Westmorland and Furness that reaches 637 meters in elevation. It has two distinct rocky tops, with a cairn marking the higher western point.
The mountain formed millions of years ago through extensive volcanic activity that shaped its Middle Dodd Dacite composition. Its foundation consists of volcaniclastic sandstone left over from this ancient geological period.
The mountain lies within the Lake District National Park, a place that has long attracted walkers and outdoor enthusiasts to the region. People use it as a destination for day hikes and as part of longer mountaineering routes through the area.
Multiple trails lead to the summit, with the most common route starting from Brothers Water and ascending via High Hartsop Dodd. The paths are well-trodden and can be visited at any time of year, though snow and ice in winter change conditions.
The northern face drops with notable crags down into Dovedale valley, creating impressive views from the summit. A small mountain lake called Scandale Tarn sits tucked into a hollow on the eastern side of the mountain.
