Trusty's Hill, Fortified hill monument in Anwoth, Scotland.
Trusty's Hill is a fortified hilltop in Anwoth with stone ramparts encircling its summit. The structure features an outer bank and a rock-cut ditch on its northern section.
The hilltop was established around 600 AD and abandoned in the early 7th century. Its walls experienced intense heat exposure that exceeded 900 degrees Celsius.
The entrance displays rare carved symbols including double discs, Z-rod patterns, and images of a fish monster and sword. These carvings provide a window into the artistic traditions of the people who occupied this hilltop.
You can reach the site via footpaths from Gatehouse of Fleet, with parking available at Venniehill car park. A short walk from the parking area leads to the hilltop.
Archaeological investigations in 2012 uncovered evidence of metalworking and ceremonial feasting at the hilltop. These findings suggest it served as a high-status settlement.
