Château de Yanoshiro

Yanoshiro Castle is a Japanese fortification in Hiroshima Prefecture situated on a strategic hilltop overlooking surrounding valleys and waterways. The site retains stone wall structures distributed across multiple levels that once formed the castle's defensive perimeter.

The castle was built as a military stronghold during the Sengoku period and controlled important trade routes across the region. This era of fortress construction defined the site's defensive design and positioning.

Following feudal traditions, the castle grounds contained separate living quarters for samurai warriors, who resided nearest to the central keep.

The site is straightforward to explore, with elevated vantage points offering views across the Hiroshima Prefecture landscape. It is best visited on foot with sturdy shoes, as the ground is uneven and portions require climbing stairs.

The defensive architecture incorporated natural terrain features into its design, with stone walls positioned to maximize protection against potential attacks.
