English Embankment, 10 - Mansion of A.L. Naryshkin

The mansion at English Embankment 10 is a three-story neoclassical structure with granite facades and tall windows facing the Neva River. The building displays symmetrical window rows and classical details characteristic of 18th-century Saint Petersburg architecture.

The Naryshkin family built this residence between 1736 and 1738 on one of the city's most prestigious locations along the river. The Vorontsov-Dashkov family acquired it in 1867 and maintained its appearance over the following decades.

The mansion served as a gathering place for Saint Petersburg's elite, hosting salons where nobility and creative people came together. The rooms reveal how wealthy families of that era used their homes as centers for conversation and social connection.

The building is located near Admiralteyskaya metro station and can be easily seen from the Neva River when traveling by boat. It is best viewed from street level or from river cruises that pass along the embankment.

The stone railings and ornamental elements date back to the 18th century, featuring carved limestone window frames that remain intact. These details are frequently overlooked by visitors but reveal the craftsmanship invested in the original construction.
