Bugs Bunny in Leicester Square, Bronze sculpture in Leicester Square, England.
The Bugs Bunny sculpture emerges from a flower bed in the southwest section of Leicester Square, showing the character holding his signature carrot. The artwork has been enhanced over time with additional elements to connect it with other cultural moments.
The bronze figure was installed in 2020 to mark the character's 80th anniversary, which originated in a 1940 animated short film. The installation was part of a growing collection of film statues on the square that honors British cinema heritage.
The figure represents the Warner Bros mascot and stands near cinemas where film premieres take place. Visitors can experience the artwork as part of the square's connection to cinema culture.
The artwork stands in the open and is easily accessible since it sits in the flat, open area of the square. A QR code on the piece provides additional information that can be accessed using a smartphone.
The artwork was updated in 2021 with basketball elements to connect with a film release. This addition shows how the piece continues to evolve and link with contemporary moments.

Statues of film and television characters are displayed in streets, parks, and airports of many cities around the world. These bronze and metal monuments honor figures who have made a mark in the history of cinema. From the giant sculpture of Marilyn Monroe in Palm Springs, recreating the famous scene from "Seven Year Itch," to the 4-meter statue of Charlie Chaplin installed outside the Corsier-sur-Vevey museum in Switzerland, these installations allow visitors to explore film legends' legacies. Some locations concentrate several of these sculptures. At Leicester Square, London's cinema district, nine bronze statues depict characters like Harry Potter, Mary Poppins, Indiana Jones, Bugs Bunny, and Mr. Bean. Hong Kong’s Avenue of Stars features a statue of Bruce Lee in a fighting stance. In Wellington, New Zealand, the airport hosts a large-scale Gollum from The Lord of the Rings. These landmarks provide photo opportunities and encourage exploration of the cities where they are located.
