Reserva Natural San Cipriano is a protected area in Valle del Cauca that spreads across tropical forests with clear rivers, natural pools, and several hiking trails. The site offers chances to observe wildlife and explore the woodland through different marked paths.
The area gained protected status in the 1990s through community efforts to preserve the ecosystems of Colombia's Pacific region. This action was followed by ongoing management and monitoring to keep the forests and their wildlife safe over time.
Local people use traditional wooden platforms called brujitas that travel on railroad tracks and serve as the main way to reach this place. This handmade transport method is deeply woven into daily life for those living here.
Visitors need to check in at the reception area and can choose between guided tours, swimming in natural pools, or independent hiking on marked paths. It is best to wear comfortable clothes and water-resistant shoes, as the trails pass through wet forest areas.
The area contains two main lakes, Lago Tortugas and Lago Platina, which are linked by a network of streams. These water systems are home to numerous fish species that swim freely in the clear waters.
