Trou d'argent Beach

Trou d'Argent Beach consists of three connected coves surrounded by rocky cliffs that form a curved shoreline. Soft white sand runs along the entire waterfront, creating several distinct swimming areas.

Early settlers named this place Silver Hole after discovering the natural cove formations on Rodrigues' eastern coast. The name reflects how important this coastal area was to the first people who settled here.

Fishermen in the area work using traditional methods with small boats and nets to catch fish. The shoreline reflects how local people have lived closely with the sea for generations.

Getting to the beach involves a two-hour walk on natural paths, so good planning is important. Bring water, sun protection, and comfortable walking shoes, and allow plenty of time for both the journey and your visit.

The three separate coves form natural swimming pools at different tide levels, each with its own water conditions. Each cove develops distinct currents and depths that visitors should consider when choosing where to swim.
