Umm Tais National Park

Umm Tais National Park is a protected natural area on an uninhabited island in northern Qatar featuring sandy beaches, small islets, and mangrove forests. These habitats support numerous migratory bird species and other wildlife.

The park was established in 2006 during the 15th Asian Games and contains the ruins of Al Mafjar village, reflecting earlier settlements in Qatar. These archaeological remains show how people lived in this region before.

This protected area shows Qatar's commitment to safeguarding natural spaces while allowing people to observe and study wildlife. Visitors can experience how the site balances modern conservation with preserving habitats that have long existed here.

The park is located about 6 km from Ar Ru'ays town and offers designated areas for birdwatching, camping, and exploring natural landscapes. Visitors should bring appropriate clothing, water, and follow local guidelines for a safe and respectful visit.

The mix of mangrove forests, sand dunes, and salt marshes creates a rare ecosystem that protects habitats for migratory birds and other marine animals. This natural space demonstrates why such areas matter for wildlife.
