Al Hasan Mosque, Islamic mosque in Budaiya, Bahrain
Al Hasan Mosque is a religious building in Budaiya featuring twelve domes, including one central dome surrounded by four medium domes and seven smaller ones, plus two 55-meter Ottoman-style minarets. Inside are two prayer halls that hold 2,200 worshippers, a Quran memorization center, event spaces, and housing for religious staff.
Muhammad bin Yusuf Al Hasan commissioned this structure and worked with Turkish architects on its design. Construction finished in May 2018, adding to the region's recent religious buildings.
The building incorporates materials from multiple countries: teak doors from India, carpets and chandeliers from Turkey, and fiberglass domes from the United Arab Emirates. This combination reflects how the region connects with the wider world.
The mosque welcomes visitors of different faiths through guided tours. Plan time to explore the building and ask about dress code expectations to ensure respectful entry.
Since 2022 the mosque has offered official guided tours to visitors of any faith, making it more open to travelers. This welcoming approach allows people from different backgrounds to experience and learn about local religious traditions.
