Croix des Marins

The Croix des Marins is a coastal memorial featuring a column adorned with carved depictions of sailors, oars, and anchors oriented toward the sea. The monument sits between the church and a former residential building, creating a defined landmark within the village center.

The memorial began as a wooden cross erected in 1722 at the chapel entrance, marking an important spot for the maritime community. Severe storms led to multiple reconstructions over the centuries, with the present structure modeled after an earlier version from the early 1900s.

A hidden metal tube was sealed within the second stone from the base, preserving historical documents from a blessing ceremony held in the mid-1800s. This discovery reveals how past generations marked sacred moments at this memorial and passed down their records.
