Gheralta Mountains

The Gheralta Mountains are a sandstone massif with steep cliff faces that rise dramatically above the surrounding Ethiopian plains, reaching several thousand meters in elevation. The interior walls of many churches contain medieval frescoes depicting religious scenes, visible only to visitors who climb the challenging rock faces.
