Grand Hotel Duomo
The Grand Hotel Duomo is a four-star hotel in the heart of Pisa, just 50 meters from Piazza dei Miracoli. Rooms and suites feature marble, travertine, and wooden finishes with many offering views of the famous tower.
The hotel was founded in 1959 by Silvio and Miranda Panichi, built in geometric rationalism style with clean lines and functional design. Over decades it hosted famous guests including Sophia Loren and Fred Astaire, signatures and photos displayed inside.
The name references the cathedral on Piazza dei Miracoli that overlooks the area. The hotel's position connects guests directly to this sacred landmark and its role as a center of worship and artistic expression in the city.
The hotel offers on-site parking or special permits for the nearby ZTL zone in the city center. Its central location puts all main sights within walking distance and serves as a convenient base for exploring other Tuscan cities like Florence and Siena.
A gallery inside displays signatures and photos of famous guests like Vittorio De Sica and Vittorio Gassman who stayed here. This collection documents decades of visits and adds a touch of classic glamour from the golden age of cinema.
