Salty's, Seafood restaurant on Alki Beach, Seattle, US
Salty's is a seafood restaurant on Alki Beach in West Seattle, with views of Elliott Bay and the city skyline. The dining room has large windows facing the water, wood details throughout, and an open layout that keeps the focus on the scenery outside.
The restaurant opened in the early 1980s under the name Salty Pickerel's & Angus McHereford's, a long double name that regulars quickly shortened to Salty's. The shortened version became the only name anyone in Seattle used, and it has stayed that way.
The weekend brunch buffet draws a loyal following and is often considered one of the best in Seattle. Guests arrive early to get a table facing the water, and the meal tends to stretch into a long, unhurried gathering.
The restaurant opens in the afternoon on most weekdays, but earlier on weekends when breakfast service starts. A reservation is a good idea any time, and especially on sunny days when the view from the windows draws more visitors than usual.
The wine list has received recognition from Wine Spectator every year since 2003, which is not something most beachside seafood spots can claim. The selection focuses on Washington State wineries, making the pairing of local fish and local wine a natural part of the meal.
