Schmitz Park, Forest reserve in West Seattle, United States.
The 53-acre park contains a dense collection of old-growth forest trees and offers 1.7 miles of walking trails through natural landscapes.
Ferdinand Schmitz, a German immigrant who served as Parks Commissioner, donated 30 acres of land to Seattle in 1908 to establish the park.
The Lushootseed people named this area dəxʷqutəb, translating to 'place of disease', indicating its connection to indigenous history.
Visitors can access the park daily from 6 AM to 10 PM through the entrance at SW Admiral Way and SW Stevens Street without paying fees.
The park maintains one of Seattle's last stands of original forest, with preserved stumps showing notches where loggers once stood during early operations.
