Lowman Beach, Sand beach in West Seattle, United States.
Lowman Beach is a sand beach in West Seattle that stretches along the shoreline with views of the Olympic Mountains, Alki Point, and Williams Point. The park includes grassy areas alongside the sandy shore, creating a space for swimming, wading, and water activities.
The location once housed a sawmill before becoming a public park for water recreation. The site underwent major restoration work in 2022 to restore natural shoreline conditions.
Indigenous peoples named this location 'gwalali', meaning Capsize-Place, as documented by anthropologist T.T. Waterman in the early twentieth century.
The beach is accessible daily and features sandy shore areas alongside grassy spaces for picnicking and relaxation. Kayaks can be easily launched from the shore, and the water is suitable for various water activities.
The 2022 restoration project incorporated 3,000 tons of custom beach material to reconstruct Pelly Creek's drainage pathway into Puget Sound.
