Casa Noha, Historical multimedia museum in Sassi district, Matera, Italy.
Casa Noha is a museum housed in a renovated family residence from the 1500s in the Sassi district. The building features three dark rooms with video projections that show Matera's development over time.
The building originated in the 1500s as a private residence belonging to the Noha family. After they donated it to FAI, an Italian organization focused on environmental heritage, it was transformed into an educational space.
The museum presents films that show how Matera developed over centuries through different periods. These documentaries are shown in the dark rooms and tell the city's story from various viewpoints.
The rooms are intentionally kept dark to make the video projections clear and visible. It helps to allow your eyes time to adjust when moving between the dark spaces and the brighter entrance area.
The museum includes specialized areas for visitors with intellectual disabilities featuring interactive elements and simplified educational materials. These spaces are designed to create an welcoming experience for all visitors regardless of ability.
