The Ernesto de la Cárcova Museum displays over 700 sculptures through multiple exhibition halls within a converted municipal stable building from 1900.
Founded in 1928, the museum began with a collection of reproductions acquired by painter Ernesto de la Cárcova during his visits to Berlin between 1905 and 1908.
The museum houses reproductions of classical sculptures from Egyptian, Mesopotamian, and Hellenistic periods, including a cast of Michelangelo's David.
The National University of Arts manages this institution, which maintains a library and offers guided tours in Spanish and English for visitors.
The building operated as stables for imported horses at the Port of Buenos Aires before its transformation into an educational art institution in 1923.
