Faena Hotel Buenos Aires
The Faena Hotel Buenos Aires is a luxury hotel in Puerto Madero, set inside a former grain warehouse from the late 19th century with thick brick walls and high ceilings. The interiors were designed by Philippe Starck and feature dark marble floors, red velvet furnishings, and generously sized rooms.
The building started as a grain warehouse built in the late 19th century as part of the expansion of Buenos Aires port. Alan Faena bought it in the early 2000s and worked with Philippe Starck to convert it into a hotel, which opened in 2004.
The hotel sits in Puerto Madero, a former port district that has become one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Buenos Aires. The public spaces display works by Argentine and international artists, making the collection feel more like a gallery than a hotel lobby.
The hotel sits along the waterfront in Puerto Madero and can be reached on foot from the city center in about 20 minutes. A taxi or ride app is the easiest option for moving around, since the area is separated from the rest of downtown by wide roads.
The hotel houses a cabaret theater with red velvet seats where live shows run regularly, which is rare for a hotel of this type. There is also a so-called School of Good Living where guests can book tango lessons, cooking classes, and wine tastings.
