Musée de l'illusion Marseille, Interactive illusion museum in 2nd arrondissement of Marseille, France

The Musée de l'illusion Marseille is an interactive museum downtown that features multiple rooms with optical phenomena, visual tricks, and holograms. The display challenges how we perceive our surroundings and invites hands-on exploration.

The museum opened in 2021 as part of a global network of illusion museums that blend entertainment with science. These spaces were created to teach visitors about how visual perception works.

The museum demonstrates how our brain processes and interprets images when our eyes are tricked. Visitors directly experience what happens when perception and reality diverge.

The museum is located near bus stops and is easily accessible by public transport. Plan to spend around 1 to 2 hours exploring the various rooms and trying the installations.

A standout installation is the Vortex Tunnel, which creates a sensation of instability while walking on a completely flat floor. The spinning light patterns confuse the brain so much that your feet feel wobbly even though the ground is perfectly level.
