Café Argana, Restaurant and café in Jemaa el-Fnaa square, Morocco.
Café Argana is a multi-story restaurant and café located on Jemaa el-Fnaa square in Marrakesh. The establishment features open terraces at different levels that look out over the bustling square and the surrounding medina.
The café was reconstructed and reopened following a bombing in 2011 that affected the square. It has since become established as a restored gathering place in the heart of Marrakesh's medina.
The café attracts both locals and visitors who gather to watch the activity below while sipping traditional mint tea. It serves as a viewing platform where people observe street performers, merchants, and the daily rhythm of the square.
The café is located on the northern side of the square and is accessible by elevator to the upper floors. Visiting during early morning or early evening hours tends to be less crowded than midday.
From the higher terraces, one can see the snow-capped Atlas Mountains on clear days stretching beyond the city. The rooftop also frames views of the Koutoubia Mosque minaret on the opposite side of the square.
