Chäserrugg, Mountain station in Eastern Switzerland.
Chäserrugg is a mountain station at 2,262 meters (7,421 feet) in Eastern Switzerland designed by Herzog & de Meuron with contemporary architecture. Its observation deck overlooks territory spanning six countries and the surrounding Alpine region.
The cable car system opened in 1972, transforming this peak into a year-round destination for skiing and mountain hiking. Modern infrastructure has continuously evolved since that opening.
The summit restaurant reflects local Toggenburg food traditions, preparing dishes that showcase ingredients from nearby mountain farms. Dining here connects visitors directly to the region's agricultural heritage.
The winter sports area has approximately 50 kilometers (31 miles) of connected ski runs served by modern lifts, with rental facilities on-site. Your visit timing depends on whether you prefer winter activities or summer hiking.
Special dinner events happen on full moon evenings at the summit restaurant, merging Alpine cuisine with nighttime mountain views. These experiences are less known than the station's daytime activities.
