Exploseum Factory DAG, Military technology museum in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
Exploseum Factory DAG is a museum housed in a former munitions factory hidden beneath a forest in Bydgoszcz, showcasing military technology and manufacturing processes. The site comprises factory buildings and about two kilometers of underground tunnels that connected the original production areas.
German forces built this munitions plant in 1939, and it became one of the largest weapons production sites during World War II, employing tens of thousands of workers from occupied territories. The facility remained a key industrial site even after the war ended.
The site tells the story of forced labor from across Europe and how workers resisted while making weapons and explosives during the war. The exhibits document their daily lives and the hardship they endured.
The site can be explored using marked pathways that guide you through underground spaces and past production areas without needing a guide. The grounds are spread out, so wear comfortable shoes and allow several hours to see everything.
Some production areas, particularly the nitroglycerin plant, still display original concrete walls and machinery from the 1940s, allowing visitors to see how explosives were actually made. These preserved spaces reveal the industrial scale and the real working conditions of that era.
