Kalakuta museum, Memorial museum in Ikeja, Nigeria.
The three-story building contains personal items, musical instruments, and living spaces of Nigerian musician Fela Kuti, including his preserved bedroom and saxophone.
In 1977, soldiers destroyed the original Kalakuta Republic in Surulere, burning master tapes, vehicles, a recording studio, and a medical clinic.
The museum displays photographs, posters, paintings, murals, album covers, and newspaper articles documenting Fela Kuti's influence on Nigerian music and activism.
The museum operates daily on Gbemisola Street, offering guided tours, a rooftop café, and air-conditioned rooms for overnight stays.
The name Kalakuta originated from Fela's time in prison, where inmates used the Swahili word meaning rascal to describe their communal cell.
