LxFactory
LxFactory is a creative hub and cultural space housed in converted industrial buildings in Alcântara. The complex features artist studios, galleries, shops, and dining areas arranged around courtyards and connected passages.
The site originated as an industrial facility during Lisbon's maritime and manufacturing period but was repurposed in the 2000s into a creative platform. This conversion represents a broader movement to revitalize abandoned industrial areas through culture and arts.
This creative space serves as a meeting point where local artists display their work and collaborate. Visitors can observe how makers and designers use the area as their working ground in daily practice.
The space is open during daytime hours and easily accessible on foot with multiple entrances from street level. The site is relatively flat and straightforward to navigate, though some sections connect via narrow stairs or ramps between levels.
The site houses more than 100 independent artists and designers working in open studios where visitors can watch them at work throughout the day. This direct access to working creators offers a rare glimpse into the actual creative process of people who live and make here.
