La Cantine du Voyage

La Cantine du Voyage is a restaurant and bar on Île de Nantes along the Loire River, housed in a converted greenhouse structure with wooden tables and communal seating. The space opens directly to the riverbank, where additional outdoor seating overlooks the water.

This establishment began in 2013 as part of the Le Voyage à Nantes cultural festival, starting as a temporary installation. It proved so popular that it evolved into a permanent seasonal operation, now running each year from spring through autumn.

The name evokes travel and adventure, while a working urban garden supplies vegetables picked just steps away from the kitchen. Guests gather at long communal tables beneath a transparent greenhouse, creating a shared dining experience that connects food directly to its source.

The location is easily accessible from the city center and operates seasonally during warmer months when outdoor seating is most pleasant. The open greenhouse design means visits are most enjoyable on clear days, though the space offers shelter if weather turns unpredictable.
