Llogara Pass

Llogara Pass is a mountain route through the Ceraunian Mountains at 1027 meters elevation in Albania's coastal region. The road winds through national park terrain and offers views toward both the Ionian and Adriatic Seas.

Julius Caesar crossed this mountain passage during his pursuit of Pompey, an event that gave it the name Caesar's Pass. The route retained its importance as a key connection between the coast and inland territories throughout history.

Local vendors along the road sell mountain honey and native herbs from the surrounding alpine meadows, reflecting how mountain communities have used these resources for generations. The pass remains an important route connecting the coastal and highland regions.

During winter months, vehicles must have chains or winter tires to safely navigate the steep, winding road. Weather conditions change quickly at this elevation, so checking local forecasts before traveling is always wise.
