Maja e Këndrevicës

Maja e Këndrevicës is the highest point of the Griba massif in southern Albania, rising to 2,122 meters above sea level. The terrain features steep slopes and rocky formations that require mountaineering skills to navigate safely.

The region contains traces of ancient Illyrian settlements from pre-Roman times, showing that this mountain area was inhabited long ago. Archaeological findings suggest the highlands were part of ancient trade routes and settlement patterns.

Local shepherds maintain traditional practices in the mountain pastures, following seasonal patterns that extend across generations of Albanian mountain communities.

Climbing this peak requires mountaineering experience and proper equipment, as the terrain is technically challenging without marked trails. Visitors should plan the route carefully with experienced guides and choose clear weather conditions for the ascent.

The peak has a prominence of 1,662 meters, ranking it among the four highest peaks in Albania by this geological measure. This feature makes it a key landmark in the structure of the southern highlands.
