Jala Beach

Jala Beach is a coastal strand in Himarë with a half-moon shaped bay surrounded by mountains and fed by clear water in deep blue tones. Olive groves cover the surrounding slopes, framing the water's edge on multiple sides.

During communist rule, this beach was reserved as a private vacation spot for government and military leadership, with a dedicated lodge overlooking the bay. That period shaped the site's initial development.

The beach serves as a gathering place where locals and visitors mix throughout the day, with evening hours bringing more social activity along the shoreline. This blending of daily routines shows how coastal life in Albania continues to evolve with modern lifestyles.

The best time to visit is during calm seas and clear weather, as the access road is unpaved and becomes difficult in poor conditions. Sturdy footwear is important, and there is little shade once you reach the beach itself.

The beach connects to Pirates Cave, a natural formation where swimmers encounter water illuminated by sunlight streaming through ceiling openings. This grotto is often overlooked by most visitors to the area.
