Ocean Beach

Ocean Beach is a coastal neighborhood along the Pacific Ocean featuring a concrete pier and numerous local shops and restaurants along Newport Avenue. The area includes residential streets leading toward the waterfront, where visitors find both sandy beach and local commercial activity.

The land was originally used by Kumeyaay people for hunting and fishing before becoming a planned seaside resort in 1887. Early developers introduced hotels and residences that shifted the location from a natural gathering place to a destination for visitors.
