Belmont Park, Beachfront amusement park in Mission Beach, California, US
Belmont Park is an amusement park in Mission Beach, California, with roller coasters, restaurants, and an indoor pool spread across seven acres along the beachfront. The complex sits directly on the boardwalk and combines vintage rides with shops and eateries spread throughout the grounds.
Businessman John D. Spreckels opened the site on July 4, 1925, as the Mission Beach Amusement Center to promote property sales in the surrounding neighborhood. The original wooden coaster and the former saltwater pool remained through numerous renovations in later decades.
The park takes its name from a New York horse racing venue and was designed to draw beachgoers to the surrounding shoreline. The wooden coaster and pool complex now attract locals who celebrate birthdays in the open pavilions or gather for meals after a day at the beach.
Visitors can purchase day passes or individual ride tickets to access the attractions, restaurants, and shops open throughout the year. The park is reachable via the boardwalk and nearby parking lots directly from the beachfront.
The pool reopened in 2019 after a major renovation transformed the former saltwater basin into a modern facility. The wooden coaster from the 1920s ranks among the oldest operating rides of its kind on the West Coast.
