Palacio Olivar, Noble mansion and museum in Ciutadella, Spain

Palacio Olivar is a Baroque house occupying an entire block between the Cathedral and Plaza del Born, marked by a symmetrical facade with a central entrance. A grand staircase inside leads to living spaces furnished with pieces spanning multiple centuries.

Construction of this Baroque palace began in 1633 when Bernat Olives acquired multiple properties on this site. The building rose during a period when Ciutadella was a significant port city and the local nobility built residences here.

The noble floor displays rooms furnished with English and French pieces from different eras, while family portraits on the walls tell the story of those who lived here.

The house is open Monday through Saturday with morning and early evening sessions available. It helps to check opening times beforehand and plan your visit accordingly.

The house features an underground cistern system for collecting rainwater, an important feature in Mediterranean architecture. Typical Menorcan curved window bays called Boínder shape the exterior and show local building tradition.
