Joya Grande is a zoo in Santa Cruz de Yojoa with over 700 animals from around 60 different species including tigers, lions, hippos, zebras, buffalo, monkeys, and one giraffe. The grounds feature animal enclosures along with rest areas and swimming pools for visitors.
The zoo was founded as a significant wildlife conservation facility in Honduras and grew to become the largest zoological institution in the country. It plays an important role in preserving animal species and providing education to the local community.
