Katara Beach

Katara Beach is a public beach within Katara Cultural Village featuring about 1.5 kilometers of coastline with white sand and clear water suitable for swimming year-round. The beach has rental facilities where visitors can access kayaks, jet-skis, and other water equipment for their time in the water.

The beach development started in 2010 as part of Qatar's effort to create recreational spaces that connect the country's maritime heritage with modern facilities. The project evolved as a unified waterfront area combining the beach with cultural and performance spaces nearby.

The beach is woven into Katara Cultural Village, where water recreation sits alongside art galleries and performance spaces that reflect Qatari traditions. Visitors naturally move between swimming and exploring the cultural offerings scattered throughout the waterfront area.

The beach is open during daylight hours and provides good swimming conditions in warm months with milder water in cooler seasons. Visitors should bring water shoes or sandals since the sand and water can become very hot during peak heat periods.

In the evenings, visitors can take gondola rides along the water, offering a Mediterranean-style experience on the Persian Gulf. These boats provide an unusual perspective on the beach and Katara village from the waterside.
