West Cape Howe

West Cape Howe extends into the Southern Ocean with granite cliffs rising above the waters, forming the most southerly point of Western Australia at Torbay Head.

The area gained protection status in 1977 as a recreational reserve under Albany Shire management before receiving national park designation in 1985 with additional land included.

The Minang people of the Noongar nation maintain deep connections to this coastal region, recognizing its significance within their traditional territories.

Visitors can access Shelley Beach by standard vehicle, while other areas of the park require four-wheel drive vehicles to navigate the sandy tracks.

The location functions as a launch site for hang gliders and paragliders, offering a 15-kilometer trail to Torbay Head with views toward Antarctica.
