Maspalomas Golf, Golf course in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Spain
Maspalomas Golf is an 18-hole course stretching across flat terrain near the Atlantic Ocean with long fairways set against the backdrop of the Maspalomas Dunes Nature Reserve. The layout uses the existing dune landscape, incorporating natural obstacles and elevation changes into the design.
The course was designed by architect Mackenzie Ross and opened in 1968, making it one of the early modern golf courses in the region. Since then it has become an established venue for professional tournament play.
The course blends into the local setting, where views of the protected dune system and traditional Canarian palm groves shape how golfers experience the game.
The property offers all necessary facilities including a pro shop, restaurant, driving range, and equipment rental for visitors. The best times to play are early morning or late afternoon when conditions are more pleasant and fewer golfers are on the course.
The course sits adjacent to a 400-hectare protected nature area, where golfers experience a rare mix of coastal winds and desert-like dune formations. This immediate proximity to protected land makes each round an experience in a largely untouched setting.
