Maspalomas Station

The Maspalomas Station operates a 15-meter parabolic antenna on Montaña Blanca hill, visible from the coastal resort of Meloneras in Gran Canaria.

The facility opened in 1960 through a Spanish-US agreement, becoming the first NASA satellite ground station in Spain for the Mercury program.

The station represents international cooperation in space exploration, supporting missions from ESA, EUMETSAT, JAXA, and other global space organizations.

The space center maintains communication with spacecraft through tracking, telemetry, and telecommand systems, operating at an altitude of 205 meters.

Located on the same latitude as Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, the station received transmissions from Apollo 11 and relayed them to Houston.
