阿蘇カドリー・ドミニオン, Animal park in Aso, Japan
Aso Cuddly Dominion is an animal facility in Aso with separate sections for different species including bears, penguins, capybaras, and alpacas. The space holds hundreds of bears in a dedicated valley where visitors can see them up close.
The facility was created to focus on bear protection and became one of the largest sanctuaries of its kind in East Asia. Over time, the grounds expanded to include many other animal species alongside the core bear population.
The facility demonstrates how Japanese communities value direct observation of animal life and care. Staff members share knowledge about animal behavior while visitors watch the creatures in their spaces.
The grounds are easy to navigate on foot with paths leading through all animal areas. It is wise to wear comfortable shoes and allow enough time to explore each section thoroughly.
The facility allows supervised close contact with young bears, an experience unavailable at most other locations on Kyushu. This direct interaction with bear cubs is memorable because so few places offer it.
