Parc aux Daims, Wildlife park in Argonay, France.
Parc aux Daims is a wildlife park in Argonay with around 4,000 square meters of partially wooded land fed by the Chevenne torrent. The site houses fallow deer and features a wooden shelter equipped with feeding facilities.
The park was created in the 1970s when officials provided two fallow deer to the mayor of La Chapelle d'Abondance. Since 1989 it has supplied bred deer to other municipalities in surrounding regions.
The park serves as a learning space where visitors can watch fallow deer behaving naturally in a semi-wild setting. The open layout allows people to observe the animals moving freely through their habitat.
The park is located about 500 meters from the village center and offers free access year-round. Visiting early in the morning when the animals are most active provides the best experience.
The park has sent fallow deer to other towns since 1989, with some reaching the Paris region. This breeding program is a surprising example of cooperation between small Alpine communities.
