Casa Caoba

Casa Caoba is a three-story residence built on a hillside in San Cristóbal, with interiors featuring mahogany paneling throughout its spaces. The building contains large ballrooms and was constructed using regional timber materials that define its character.

The mansion was built in 1940 during a period of authoritarian rule in the Dominican Republic. It served for decades as a preferred countryside residence for the country's leadership at that time.

The rooms display local craftsmanship in their woodwork and details, reflecting techniques from artisans who worked in the San Cristóbal region. The way spaces are finished and decorated shows the skill of workers who built and furnished the residence.

Access to the site is via a steep unpaved road that requires careful navigation and local knowledge to reach. Visitors should wear appropriate footwear and check current road conditions before attempting to visit the property.
